Katie began her formal training, studying under Sara Goldstein (voice and Alexander Technique teacher), at The Boston Conservatory, where she received her Bachelors in Music. At the conservatory, she studied vocal pedagogy with Kevin Wilson, which inspired her to dive further into the craft of performance. She went on to receive her Masters in Music at Boston University, un the tutelage of Sharon Daniels. She is currently continuing her education by studying under Dana Varga (The Empowered Musician). Katie has had the opportunity to work with many wonderful vocal coaches along the way to include; Michael Strauss, Yukiko Oba, Brendon Shapiro and most recently, James Myers.
Katie firmly believes that you never stop learning and is constantly looking to further educate herself. This past year, she took a teacher course taught by Kevin Wilson, which focused on the musical theatre voice. She also is continuing to maintain and further develop her acting skills under Lilian Klein Ivester and dancing abilities under Diana Gossard.
Katie has been teaching for the past six years. In addition to offering voice lessons, she has been an active vocal coach for high school shows, auditions, has music directed for local communities to include The Abington Town Choir and Second Wind A cappella and has offered Alexander Technique workshops for various performing arts communities. She hopes to continue to expand her knowledge and abilities as a professional performer and teacher.
*Students who have worked with Katie have successfully landed leading roles in musicals, attended Senior and Junior Districts, applied for colleges, where they are pursuing music theatre or vocal performance degrees and become more independent singers in the musical communities that they participate in.
